Early Intervention
BARC Developmental Services provides early intervention and early childhood services for infants, toddlers and preschoolers who are referred by either a local base service unit (birth through three) or the Bucks County Intermediate Unit (ages three through five), in home, community and classroom based programs.
Outcomes are individual to the child and family and are developed through assessment, discussion, planning, and ongoing communication. Strategies are developed to encourage progress and development in areas that may include motor development, communication skills, cognition and problem solving, play skills and/or socialization.
Services are determined by a team that supports the child and the family through individualized plans that include measurable outcomes, strategies and specifically designed instruction.

BARC Developmental Services Early Intervention Philosophy
At BARC Developmental Services the philosophy of Early Intervention evolves from a developmental or educational model, intended to empower families to facilitate their child's growth and development. Early Intervention services are best provided through a collaborative or team effort between family, community, special instructors/teachers and therapists.
We see the family as the leader of this team, which enables us to develop strategies that suit the individual styles, customs and routines of those whom we support. Early Intervention at BARC Developmental Services provides services to children with a wide range of special needs.
Every child is unique and has an individual style and rate of learning. We accept a child where he or she presently interacts developmentally and promote a positive approach to skill development by building on existing strengths.
Early Intervention Services include:
Specialized classrooms for preschoolers referred by the Bucks County Intermediate Unit at one of our two Bucks County Friendship Circle locations.
Home and community based supports and services for infants and toddlers referred by Bucks County and Berks County Base Service Units.
Self-Study Information
In recognition of the state regulations that mandate that all those working with the 0 - 3 population must have 24 hours of annual training in EI relevant areas, we continue to actively plan and schedule trainings that you will be invited to participate in. In addition, we have been able to include some trainings on this site to assist you. Although not reimbursable, these trainings will help you satisfy the hours required by the state of Pennsylvania.
After viewing a training, you must complete the associated self study examination and mail it to the attention of the Early Intervention Assistant Department Director who will review it, inform you of your completion of the training and issue documentation to you.
