Who we are...
We are people with disabilities and the members, parents, & staff who support them...We are guided by a volunteer board of directors.
We were founded in 1951 by parents of children with developmental delays. These parents sought growth and achievement opportunities for their children. Today we serve over 900 individuals from birth through retirement.
We help infants and preschool children develop a variety of skills through our Early Intervention Program. The family is central in planning supports for their child.
We help develop work skills needed by individuals to earn wages through our Vocational Services Program and our Production Services Program. We assist individuals in securing employment in the community.
We support individuals in their homes through our Residential Program. The supports we provide are as varied as the dreams of the people we serve.
In a single image, our mark represents a sunburst symbolizing warm rays of friendship, hope and love that BARC extends in all directions to persons with developmental disabilities at all levels, in all communities in Bucks and Berks Counties.
It is our personal emblem of responsibility to help secure the rightful place for citizens with mental retardation in our society.
When you see this symbol on BARC letterhead and literature, it is not the symbol of our Association alone but also of your “association" with us.

BARC
BARC is a member of the United Way. This means that BARC receives money directly from United Way to support one of its programs and also benefits from donor designated contributions from supporters in the community.
This fall, many area companies and businesses will be participating in United Way campaigns. If your employer promotes a United Way Campaign please consider designating BARC as the recipient of a United Way gift.
