Department Director of Vocational Services

The Department Director of Vocational Services, with the leadership of the Executive Director, is responsible to the individuals supported for ensuring job readiness training, workshop contract opportunities, adult retirement day services and other programs as service delivery opportunities present themselves. The Department Director’s responsibilities include overall management and leadership for the entire Vocational Department. The Department Director is responsible for ensuring effective relationships with the Bucks County MH/DP Office as well as all other funding and regulatory sources. The Department Director will ensure full compliance at all times with 2380/2390, Department of Aging, Provider Monitoring, DOH, and QA&I regulations. The Department Director reports to a liaison from the BARC Developmental Services Board of Directors on a monthly basis. For contract procurement, the responsibility ranges from the efforts of Sales Reps with existing and potential customers to bid submission, order processing, and participation in production planning. Jobs must yield equitable wages for the workers and meet all regulations established by the Wage and Hour Division of the US Department of Labor and Industry, as well as ensuring the work is compatible with the skills of the workshop participants, production staff, and physical plant capabilities. The Department Director oversees program staff to ensure waiver compliance.

The Department Director works a standard week of 37.5 hours from both day program facility locations (Quakertown and Warminster). The Department Director will work closely with the Site Managers, CFO, and Executive Director to develop prioritized annual capital improvement projects for the facilities to ensure they are maintained in pristine condition to provide a safe and pleasant work environment for individuals served, and all staff, within fiscal constraints. The satisfaction of the individuals supported through BARC Developmental Services is essential. The Department Director is expected to set the example for others in the agency regarding compassionate and professional leadership that sets and fulfills the department’s strategic direction and agency purpose. The Department Director will assist individuals served, family members, staff, and others with concern and empathy, respect their confidentiality and privacy and at all times, and communicate in a courteous and respectful manner.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation, Counseling, Social Sciences or Business Administrations required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5 years experience in Vocational Rehabilitation and administration preferred
  • 5 years work experience in Administration/Supervision preferred
  • Valid PA driver’s license and acceptable driving record required (based on BARC Developmental Services Driver Safety Policy)

The starting annual salary is based on qualifications. BARC Developmental Services offers a comprehensive benefit package available to full time employees after 60 days of employment.
